Pennies for Patients

Our school had a big kickoff on Monday for our annual Pennies for Patients fundraising program. We have decorated our milk jugs and started collecting money. Mrs. LeMay offered to let her Hawktime style her hair if they raise $1,000! Go for it. Her group last year was only $35 short.

Mosquito Netting Update

We came up with great ideas for fundraising, but the school is already gearing up for Pennies for Patients. Mrs. LeMay and I decided to not compete with the school-wide press for money, so we will work on some of those great ideas in late February. That will still give us time to send money for mosquito nets with Mrs. Nicolai in March.

Check out the Friends Serving Uganda website to see some of the work they're doing. Mrs. Nicolai also sent this picture from the November trip:

Here are some comments from Mrs. Nicolai:
"Hi - this is Annie's mom. Our trip in November was amazing! We were able to give mosquito netting to one of the villages. You can see the pictures on our website:

There are still two more villages (Kabuli and Ikumbya) that have not received netting. I got to see first hand the effects of Malaria and it is very sad. The people (and especially the children/babies) are unable to recover from the disease once they contract it.

Please let me know if you have anymore questions. The next trip is in March 2009."
